Every child is a different kind of flower that altogether make this world a beautiful garden.

Before being a special needs mother I had found my career path in nursery/ greenhouse work. I love the outdoors and am often referred to as a crazy plant lady by my sister. The growth and development of a plant is truly a beautiful process to be a part of. But little did I know, this career path had already began to help me appreciate how wonderful even a little bit of progress and growth can be. It had taught me how patience and love could turn around even the saddest plants to give them a second life of beauty.

The Superhero of Our Special Family

Olive was officially diagnosed with Septo Optic Dysplasia at the time of her birth. In a spectrum disorder such as SOD, children are all different and are affected by the disorder in many different ways; Olive has panhypopituitarism, bilateral optic nerve hypoplasia, feeding problems, and developmental delay (to keep it simple). Olive's story is unique and our lives continue to grow to be even more special, everyday. Although she has a lot working against her, she strives for more everyday and continues to grow into the happiest, silliest, most amazing little girl I could have ever asked for.

Through our story we hope to spread some light, hope, and peace in other's special lives!

In 2021 we welcomed Olive's new sidekick, Lincoln. Joining us 5 weeks early, 4 days after I had been diagnosed with polyhydramnios. Being early, his lungs struggled at first but cleared of fluid after the first couple days.

With a NICU stay of 5 days, he joined us at home with no known health issues and met his big sissy.

He was such a quiet baby... until his milk protein allergy set in! After some adjustments in formula however, he has gained a dramatic amount of weight and seems to be on track and even ahead in his milestones!

Welcoming a new baby into a special needs family is scary for so many reasons. Olive has never been very social, the impact on her was the greatest worry. Even though everyday is a struggle with her getting adjusted to her, now 7 month old brother, he has helped push her forward developmentally and given her a life long friend.
